SUE HUDSON
Sue's earliest ambition was to be a dancer until, at dance and drama college in Manchester, she discovered that she also had acting and singing abilities, which came as a shock after previously been told she couldn't sing.
By the age of eighteen, Sue had started her professional career combining her singing, dancing and now acting talents in Stage Musical Theatre. Working with the Library Theatre Company, she appeared in several musicals including Applause and A Little Night Music.
At nineteen, Sue moved to London. Several dancing jobs later, she accepted an offer to join a girl band called Alive and Kicking gigging in the UK and then touring in Australia. This early experience confirmed Sue's desire to pursue a career in the commercial music scene. She further used this time to expand her vocal experience through backing singing and session work jobs with several artists including members of 10cc and ELO.
By the time she was twenty four, Sue was itching to make her own stand as a singer/songwriter and began her vocal venture working alongside several musician/songwriter /producers. Never wanting to be far from live performance, she joined and performed with bands 'Beeka', 'Renegade', 'Spoon' & 'Capone' attracting Record Company interest.
To support herself, Sue took on television parts including 'Eastenders' and worked for Bjorks' Independent Record Company 'One Little Indian', 'Rough Trade', 'Clean-up' and 'Fat Cat'. Here she learned about the other side of the music industry and interacted with artists who inspired her including 'Skunk Anansie' and 'Sneaker Pimps'.
Then in 1997, Sue's life changed dramatically when she became a Christian. Although her desires and ambitions changed, her music talents remained key and she found herself involved in and then leading the Worship Team. Her strong vocal style and commercial training attracted the attention of Vince Hudson, the church's Music lead and a professional producer. They started writing together producing their first tracks 'You Called Me' and 'Got it all Worked Out' which eventually led to the formation of The Dawn.
Sharing their vision to create a powerful new Christian sound and live experience led to the realisation that God had a bigger plan for them and in December 2003, the Dawn became a married partnership!!
VINCE HUDSON
Vince's first introduction to music was through his father, a blues guitarist playing bars and jazz clubs in central London. His father bought him his first guitar at the age of eleven and by the age of sixteen Vince began gigging wherever there was an opportunity. Four years later he teamed up with his younger brother Jude to form The Hudson's, signing their first record deal with Streetwave/Epic, they achieved moderate success in both dance and national charts. They worked with artists such as The Phoenix Horns (from Earth, Wind and Fire) and toured along side Paul Young and Wham.
Within a few years of moving from Epic, Vince signed with David A. Stewart and Anxious Records, working with BPI award wining producer Kevin Maloney (Fairground Attraction, U2 and Alison Moyet). During this time Vince met up with Keith Harris (manager to Stevie Wonder, Junior Giscombe, Paul Johnson and David Lynden Hall) who became his manager.
Vince has worked in almost every area of the industry from radio and television to theatre and films, at one point he set up his own dance label 'Wild At Heart... WAH'. His production, musician and writing talents have provided Vince with the opportunity to work with some of the best engineers, producers and artistes in the world, including engineer Femi Jaye, producers Bobby Brooks and artists as diverse as Kim Mazelle, Shirley Bassey, Asylum and Cliff Richard.
In 2000, Vince became a born again believer and joined his London church attended by a number of actors and musicians. Vince was quickly approached to oversee the music in the church and to create a production capability to develop preaching tapes and musical tracks. It was through this that he met and worked with Sue Allen, later to become Sue Hudson. They each quickly recognised their shared vision and the potential they had in combining their cross industry experience, music and production talents to form The Dawn.
